Hepatitis B jabs

The Basic Health Services Department has started jabs for teenagers against Hepatitis B which, if not prevented, could lead to cirrhosis and cancer. The campaign is to be continued at secondary schools and is scheduled to last for six months. This week the team visited the Sedat Simavi Industrial and Vocational Lycee in Lefkosa and those who had their first shot last year were given the second dose. During the campaign, a total of three shots are given to the students. The second shot is administered a month after the first and the third is given five months after the second. A press release by the department said during the campaign, secondary school students in Lefkosa, Gazi Magusa, Iskele, Gecitkale, Akdogan, Guzelyurt and Yeni Erenkoy would be vaccinated.
