UBP, DP defectors set up new party

The four rebel opposition MPs whose defection last week triggered the long-predicted divorce of the TRNC's coalition partners has announced that they are setting up their own political party.

The name of the new group was revealed as the Freedom, and Reform Party (Ozgurluk ve Reform Partisi — ORP), and was registered with the Interior Ministry.

The four MPs who last week quit the main opposition National Unity (UBP) and junior coalition Democrat (DP) parties announced on Thursday night that they would be founding a new party. The news was followed by Prime Minister and Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Ferdi Sabit Soyer, who has been delegated to form a new coalition.
