Girne’s Bandabuliya

Girne’s Bandabuliya, or the former colonial covered market in the centre of the town, has proved a massive hit since it was re-opened last month, but the renovated building is still one of the town centre's best-kept secrets.

The beautiful building — renovated at a cost of £150,000 over nine months — features a variety of shops, bars and restaurants which are open all day and into the night.

The visual centrepiece is a reproduction of the 2,300-year-old shipwreck which lies just a few hundred metres away in Girne Castle.

The result is a facility which is open to the public six days a week until midnight and offers live entertainment on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
