Carreras new date

A new date has now been set for a TRNC concert by world-famous opera singer Jose Carreras after his scheduled performance at Salamis amphitheatre was cancelled last year due to the star's last-minute illness.

Hundreds of fans had the cost of their tickets reimbursed when the star failed to turn up for his heavily publicised concert on September 18, 2005.

Under his contract for the event, Mr Carreras had to complete a concert in the TRNC within one year or face legal action through the courts. But now, under an agreement between the organisers and Mr Carreras, his concert will take place at 9pm on Friday, September 14, 2007 at the Salamis amphitheatre as part of the fifth International Music Festival. The fourth festival is currently under way.
