What you'll need to get married in TRNC

What you need to produce to get married in the TRNC:

• Copies of both bride's and bridegroom's passports

• Copies of both bride's and bridegroom's birth certificates

• Completed "banns" form for submission to District Officer

• Decree absolute (if either of the couple is divorced)

• Statutory declaration for each person, signed and stamped by a notary solicitor, to confirm both parties are single and free to marry, or divorced and free to marry, or widowed and free to marry. All declarations must be prepared within three months of the wedding date.

• For British citizens or those of dual nationality who have lived in the UK, the statutory declaration needs to be verified and stamped by the TRNC Representative Office in London. The cost is Ј12 per person; applications have to be made in person and two witnesses who can confirm they know you are also required to attend. The parties and the witnesses will be required to bring their passports as well as the original statutory declaration paperwork. Applications can be made Monday to Friday between 10am and 1.30pm; there is no appointment system.
